| - I was a big fan of the Improv under old management, but the new place doesn't impress me anymore. For starters, when StandUpLive bought the old Improv, they started spam texting me without my consent - the old Improv had my phone number but I had never agreed to texting, and when the new company took over they decided to pretend I had agreed.
But to me, one of the best things about the old Improv was allowing food to count towards the 2-item minimum, but that is no longer true. They also no longer offer free refills on soda unless you buy a $13 souvenir cup. Beer and alcohol run $8-$15 a drink, with bottles of wine starting at $30 and counting towards the drink minimum of two guests.
Oh, and be aware that they charge a 15% gratuity automatically, no matter how large your party size is. I don't have a problem providing gratuities for good service, but where's the incentive for "good" when it's automatic?
I won't pretend I'll never be back since I don't know other places to see live comedy in the east valley, but it's going to be far less frequent than it used to be.
