| - Considering the price and location, Hotel Victoria deserves a solid 4-stars. Very affordable option in the Downtown Core, close to shopping, sports and touristy attractions. Great for Toronto newbies.
I love old, historic buildings and Hotel Victoria fits the bill. Though it's mostly updated (minus the slow elevator), it still retains the charm of of centuries ago. Guest rooms are on the small side, but who needs a luxury suite when you're in such a great city? Big, comfy bed with clean sheets, hardwood floors, TV with cable and Canadian Neflix and complimentary bottled water made this girl very happy for 3 nights.
Took pictures of my room, which could use a little TLC like an extra coat of paint and some cleaning around the baseboards. But people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones - my apartment is much dirtier and I seem to be OK with it on a regular basis.
There is a restaurant next door, Over Easy, but I wouldn't recommend eating there unless you're desperate for breakfast. That's another story, just throwing this tidbit in for extra flavor.
Concierge is off-duty from 11:30 pm until sometime in the morning. Guests can access the building by using their room key in a special machine near the front entrance. This gave me slight anxiety since I tend to lose room keys in my wallet or purse, was afraid I'd be sleeping out front after a few too many cocktails. Luckily that didn't happen.
A nice long weekend in Toronto, thanks Hotel Victoria!
