I want to start by saying Employee Whitney is a natural for customer service. It is rare for a restaurant veteran like me to find millennials who are capable of looking at your plate, cup or entree and determine what the customer needs. Whitney does this effortlessly. A Natural. If she is not a manager BC is missing the boat. Serving is all about serving.
Food: Having lived at Citiscape with an adjacent BC I am fully aware of all the menu items but it is the BC French Toast that makes me drive from Chandler to Scottsdale. Fresh berries and roasted pecans without that syrupy goo most places like to add. Decent enough coffee and an open airy atmosphere in Scottsdale add to top quality.
Service: Why 4 and not 5 stars. Three people were working the counter. Two seemed to be novice servers intent on smiling and looking good while Whitney took care of everyone at the counter whether it was her customer or not. With the NEW concept of walking into a restaurant and ordering at the register(hmmm, get the money before they eat) it is a telling trend that we are less inclined to deal with servers and tipping for sub par service( instead of training and retention of servers). Soon, if not already, service is rare in fast casual dining. There is an art to serving the general public. I've seen waiters put their kids thru medical school on their wages because it was a CRAFT and they took pride in what they did. Now, it's something to do between changing careers or schooling.
I'd love to talk to the dishwasher. If management is good that person would want to be the BEST dishwasher. No dirty plates on their watch. It's all about personal Pride and Integrity. All of these things lead to longevity in this business.
