| - Potential. Lottttts of potential.
I walked in pre-concert, looking to get some grub and a few drinks. May I just say that the parking lot slash alley area is super creepy. As I walked in the door, I was a bit confused on where to go. Do I order at the front? No one seemed to know. I just mosyed on into the bar instead.
Bartender was friendly, made a great gin and tonic with bitters (read, strong). Atmosphere was dark, dank and kinda manky. I like dive bars but I just couldn't quite love this one. The place was filled with hipsters, who aside from being very sexy beasts, seem to always warp the ambience a bit.
Add to that, the 3-piece band that played was a little... unusual. How would I describe it? Funky urban blues-rap with a hint of Vanilla Ice. I was heading to a concert, obviously I'm a fan of music in general, but this was just a little too out there. I packed up my fried zucchini and bolted out of Long Wong's.
In a perfect world, this place would be doused in a good deal of Jack Daniels, introduced to something called Rock and Roll, and filled with lots of boisterous/fun/crazy indivduals who wear leather. I could see myself visiting then.
