| - I recently utilized Enterprise in Lakewood for a business trip. The rental car was reserved and paid for by my employer. Enterprise called me the day before my reservation to confirm and then I called the morning of my reservation to request a pick up. No problems there, they said they would pick me up at 2:00pm. I found that I was picked up at 2:15pm--and although the driver was very friendly (and helped me with my bag), he was wearing latex gloves. I'm assuming this was to keep the car clean, but as a woman traveling alone and taking a ride from a stranger--this had visions of Dexter dancing through my head. Alas, I made it safely to Enterprise.
When I arrived at the office there was one young man working alone at the desk. He failed to make eye contact or greet me. I'm guessing he must have been very busy waiting on NO ONE ELSE. Anyway, he confirmed my reservation and had me sign the paperwork. I asked if the car had bluetooth capability, which the representative said yes, and asked if I wanted XM radio. No, I told him I didn't want to request any extra's since the reservation wasn't on my dime. When it was time to go out to the car it was raining and cold. The representative left the handy-dandy umbrella in the corner and jogged out to the car, me walking behind him with my bags. I put my bags in the back of the car and went to sit in the passenger seat, expecting him to orient me to the vehicle. He had stuck the keys in the ignition and told me, "there's about a half a tank of gas so bring it back around that point," and was gone, out of the rain, back into the shop. That was it. No orientation to the car, nothing. I sat there, adjusting my seat and mirrors and attempting in vain to connect to the bluetooth. He came out with another customer within a few minutes and gave her the same treatment. As he was walking away I tooted the horn, hoping he would turn around and assist me with the bluetooth but he didn't even flinch. Just walked back inside.
Additionally, I'm certain the vehicle wasn't cleaned before my rental. The carpeted floor mats were stained and dirty and the dashboard was covered in dust. The "non-smoking sticker" was halfway peeled off the dash. I was a little miffed that there was only a half tank of gas, since the company was aware I had a long drive ahead. And on my trip back the "change engine oil soon" clicked on. Certainly not what I expected in a rental car service.
