  • I usually stay at the Delano at Mandalay Bay but given circumstances there I wanted a change. I decided to have an open mind and give this hotel a chance. I liked the look and amenities of the rooms and was under the impression it was a nice property. However, it failed surprisingly so to live up to its reputation and my expectation. To start we arrived to check in. The women at the front desk was incredibly pretentious and I could see through her thin veiled attempt to be polite. Perhaps she disapproved of my comfortable air plane attire. Despite being on time she informed me my room was not ready and that there was several rooms ahead of mine to be cleaned. She couldn't even give me an estimate. When I declined her request to use my email to sign me up for a rewards program her condescending response was "it's a free service". If I'm staying at a "high end" hotel that's not my concern. I maintained a polite disposition through it all however. In the end my room was not ready for 1.5 hours after check in time, causing me to have to cancel my dinner reservations. The room itself was okay, though not nearly as nice as id hoped. The sheets were like HAY! Scratchy itchy hay. There was also a train outside our window that blasted its horn several times in the night waking us up. The next day by the pool I couldn't seem to get the service to come by and offer us a drink even though she was taking care of others. I had to walk to the bar. At one point a very unfriendly pool attendant came by and closed the umbrella I was sitting under with my eyes closed for no comprehensible reason and walked off. We aren't trashy people who usually get treated poorly. I was pretty confused. Half the staff was friendly and the other half was not. In the end this place isn't as nice as I'd hoped (see posted pictures for a few of many examples). Too many of the staff members were rude. This wasn't an enjoyable hotel. I wouldn't recommend it.
