| - I absolutely love Kabul, it is probably my favorite restaurant in Madison...
I'll start by mentioning that our enthusiastic and engaging server was a blast to have taking care of my friend and I after a day of shopping and walking around downtown.
As a vegan, there are so many choices!
I have tried several entrees; the Vegetarian Couscous, Tunisian Spinach Stew and Badin jan Chalow (sans the yoghurt sauce); all are impressive- and hearty portions to boot! On the appetizer side, I've sampled hummus, burani, baba ghanoush and tabbouleh (the appetizer sampler includes all four), and they are spectacular. (The complimentary bread is also served with a cilantro-y chutney which is hard to get enough of!)
The cucumber basil martini is on-point, and I had a sip of my friend's pomegranate martini and realized you probably can't go wrong ordering any cocktail on the menu... They all appear to pair perfectly and add some refreshing balance to the Mediterranean noshing that will ensue as soon as you sit down and soak up the beautiful surroundings.
Tapestries, fresh plants, and a clean white-walled environment welcome you, and the second-floor view of state street below makes for wonderful people-watching.
Afghani food... you're probably unsure what that all entails (as was I before my first venture inside), but the menu is heavy with enticing choices and all are fragrant and perfectly spiced. I dare you to come try and not leave content and full.
I can't wait to go back for more spectacular food, cocktails and service.
Cheers!
