  • We were in LV this weekend and wanted to catch the volcano show at the Mirage. I checked the times for Friday beforehand, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Left Fremont St. in order to be at Mirage for the 9 p.m. show. Greeted by the valet, who asked how our night was going. I said great, we were there to see the volcano show. "See you soon" he said as we headed down to the front of the hotel. Those words would shortly take on new meaning. People had gathered, positioned for their photo spot, and were waiting. I wanted video and powered my camera on and off to practice how far to zoom. I also didn't want to miss the start. Five minutes before 9, the lights in front of the volcano turned off and back on. Warning it was to start soon, I thought. Then two minutes before the hour the lights went off and on again. Two minutes to showtime I thought. Then 9 came and went. Nothing. At 9:02 my husband said he thought something was wrong. I said surely the valet would have told us as he knew that's why we were there. There was absolutely nothing indicating the show was cancelled. There was nothing stating it wouldn't happen as scheduled on the sign with the show times. By 9:10 p.m. people were confused with most having given up and moved down the Strip. I checked the website on my phone and it said that show may be cancelled due to high winds. It was windy. I surmised by 9:12 p.m. it wasn't happening. Back at the valet area to retrieve our car, we were greeted by a different valet. When I told him the volcano show apparently wasn't happening, he said "No it's cancelled tonight." WHY HAD THE FIRST VALET NOT TOLD US THAT WHEN WE ARRIVED? Instead leading me to believe everything was right on schedule? Seriously Mirage, put a sign out, get a PA system to make an announcement, or at least have the courtesy to have someone in your employ come to where all the people are waiting and tell them it's not happening. In the end I was rewarded with a parched throat, a dead camera battery, and a somewhat spoiled evening by wasted time when it was preventable had you shown some customer courtesy.
