I've been going to spin classes for many years and have been to a lot of other spin studios/classes around Cleveland. I wanted to check this place out based on the great reviews. The class that I went to can best be described as a spin class on steroids, not for the faint of heart.
I took my husband with me, who is newer to spin. I was encouraged at the beginning of the class when the instructor told us that the mantra of the studio was that the class was not a competition, that everyone rides together and keeps up with the beat of the songs. That was until I realized that all of the songs were really fast (probably ~120 RPM)!! I basically had to keep my resistance really low for the whole class in order to keep pedaling that fast for so long. When it came to jumps and figure eights, I was more worried about trying not to injure myself than with keeping up with the instructor. I like that an arm workout was incorporated (there are two free weights on every bike), but I kept bumping into my neighbor when I tried to move my arms. Needless to say, my husband couldn't make it through the whole class and had to leave halfway through! Because of the above issues, I did not feel that I had as good of a workout as with other spin classes.
The other classes at this studio sound interesting, so I might try those out instead next time.
