| - Work to be done, but headed in the right direction. I've been there for lunch twice in the past week, and this was during "work" hours so it was beer free, and still I really like the place. Not a quick meal though. Expect it to be a good hour. Would be a great place to "hang", and probably perfect for a late night chill or a slow hungover morning. The staff are very friendly, and the decor is sparse but has a vibe. One of the waiters said the owner used to be a tour manager or roadie for the Reverend Horton Heat, so that's the feel of the place. Great blues music playing overhead, would like some rock'a'billy on the soundtrack mix. Maybe it's more like that at night. I'm looking forward to checking out the place with some brews and a live band playing
I love how the two servers we had were all about how FRESH everything is. The burgers are ground on site, the fries were fresh cut 'tatoes, and the coleslaw . . . usually coleslaw looks like it's been in a bucket for months, but SPS's looked like a mini salad in a cup. FRESH. Somebody's been watching the food channel.
Still a limited menu, so I had a burger both times, and both were great. The veg were crisp, and I love the sliced pickle on the burger WITH a spear on the side. I'm not a fry guy, but the fries were crisp and ungreasy and I ate every last one. My buddy had the meatloaf, and it looked great. A few of us shared the chili cheese fry app, and it was MASSIVE and very ungreasy. Not sure how they managed that. The chili even had ground and shredded meat in it. The $1.99 side salad was MASSIVE too. Great side salad deal
The wings we had the first time were an unsauced disappointment. Didn't order wings the second time, but they were trying out a new recipe and brought a couple to our table. They were "eat more than one every 5 minutes and you'll burst in to flames" hot, and totally excellent. Well sauced too. Guess they're still working the wing kinks out.
I definitely recommend the place if you have some time to kick back and chill. Thank F' the economy is killing off the "Ruby Tuesdays" on Mill. Hope the owners of the land that Long Wong's was on are chocking on the revenue they're not getting by tearing Wong's down
