| - If you read my other review of Cartwright Motors, you'll see I was in search of another vehicle after having gone through one of the worst experiences in my life shopping for a vehicle...or really anything ever.
D&W Auto doesn't seem to do a lot of advertising anywhere besides Craigslist, which is where I found a truck I was interested in. They didn't even have it, or any of their inventory listed on their own website. Whatever, no big deal, I got down there and luckily they still have the truck available.
After checking out the truck, I go in and ask for the keys to get it started and check it out. About 15 minutes later, someone comes out and starts explaining everything about the truck. He says the mileage may not be correct and the title is marked as TMU (total mileage unknown). This isn't something that would bother me much, especially if they can make me a deal. It's a diesel truck in great shape, and even if it is slightly over 100k miles, it isn't a deal breaker for me. Not to mention I plan on keeping the truck for a good long while, so resale value is the least of my concerns right now.
After checking out the truck, driving it around, we start talking about pricing. They have a sticker price of $19,999 on it and a Craigslist advertised price of $17,999. After learning about the title and some other little things, the guy tells me they can definitely work on the price and get it to $17k, if not less. I tell him okay, but I want my mechanic to come down here and take a look at it first, which he agrees too.
The next day, a Wednesday, I call and tell him my mechanic will be there first thing in the morning. No problem. Until Thursday morning when my mechanic shows up and supposedly someone took the keys home so he can't check the truck out. So, now he just wasted his time driving across town and no one can explain why the keys are missing. A few hours later, the sales rep I'm dealing with finally texts me back and says the owner decided to sale the truck to another car lot. Wait, what?! We're just steps away from filling out paperwork and buying the truck from you, but you go and sale the truck out from underneath me the very next day? Makes absolutely no sense.
I'll give them a little credit as he at least agrees to give me the name of the dealership who bought the truck, but here's where things get even more annoying. Not only is the other dealership (West Coast Auto Sales) not up front about the TMU title until I mention it, but they refuse to do anything on the price and want $3k more than what D&W did. And these guys clearly know each other, so the whole entire thing just seemed completely shady.
Maybe I should be glad, maybe I avoided another dealership disaster...but c'mon, how are these guys in business?! Have some decency. Even just a shred of honesty. Nope. Go somewhere else. These guys don't deserve your money.
