  • There are good and bad parts to Pioneer. There really isn't that much to do in the way of large attractions. The water slides are good, but I got really bounced around on the blue tunnel slides. I have a big bruise on my leg because I flipped over while going down it! No big deal, though. The speed slides are super fun for everyone, though! The lazy river is as boring as it gets, but hey, it's a lazy river. The only other water attractions are a big pool and a large kiddie pool that's got two little playthings on it--a mushroom and some other little climber. Oh, and there are paddle boats and those are fun too. In general, the park seems to be falling into disrepair. The grounds are poorly maintained (e.g. lots of weeds growing in the landscaping) and many of the buildings and attractions look extremely dated and aged. Lots of rust stains, water marks and evident roof leaks on the ceilings inside the buildings, a general musty smell inside any of the buildings, faded colors on most of the attractions and scrapes and scratches all over the pools, slides and stairs. It's definitely not a "high class" waterpark (is there even such a thing?) but it's fun in general. Admission is a bargain at $20 per person and includes everything but the go-karts, which the kids had a blast on. The little concession stand is nice too and everything is priced well. Oh, and the best thing of all? Almost no lines whatsoever. We didn't wait more than a few minutes for anything. What this park lacks in large attractions it gains with the fact that frustration is kept to a minimum. This is the place to come if you want to pack a picnic, too. There is tons of space for picnicking here. Another bonus? No pesky carnival-style games to tell the kids they can't play or to drain your pockets. This really is a one and done deal with the admission (except the go karts). Oh, and parking is just $4. Good deal!
