| - Mitchell's is probably the single absolute freaking reason why I was so sad about leaving Cleveland. Us Cincinnatians have Graeters and Aglamesis Brothers, but none of that compares to Mitchell's. I've said it; all you Cincinnati folks can crucify me but that's the truth.
I stayed in Cleveland for four days, and went to Mitchell's three times. Between my fiance's orders and mine, I was able to try a bunch of different flavors: Toasted Pistachio, Dark Roast Coffee, Toasted Hazelnut, Wildberry Crumble, Cookie Dough, and Lavender Honey. There was also a Apple-based flavor that was one of their seasonal flavors and tasted like apple pie that I don't remember the name of. I was surprised that it was a summer flavor, because it seemed perfect for Fall. The Pistachio and Hazelnuts are wonderfully creamy and nutty, and you can definitely taste the toasted flavor. I love that they have indicators for when flavors are made with locally sourced products!
My fiance's favorite is the Wildberry Crumble, which also tastes like pie. The Wildberry ribbons are very bold and flavorful. Absolutely delicious.
My personal favorite was the Lavender Honey. It's wonderfully sweet with hints of Lavender when you breathe in. I can see why some people would associate it with fragrance, because that's essentially what it is, but I personally love the fragrant taste. I ended up getting Lavender Honey on two of my three visits. It's exactly what I think of when I think Summer!
Lines were always packed when we went, but it moves very quickly. Samples are available, and the employees are super friendly and nice. When they ask you for here or to go, remember that if you choose to stay, they will add a tax to your bill (they don't if you choose to go).
I am extremely sad Mitchell's doesn't intend on expanding outside of Cleveland nor does it ship any ice cream :(
tl;dr Awesome ice cream, creamy flavors, friendly service. Lavender Honey and Wildberry Crumble are worth trying if in season! Choose to go and sit outside in the summer because choosing for here adds tax to your bill.
