| - I lived here for four years and really enjoyed it.
RLP is located on Spence Avenue near Hudson Park. It is very quiet neighborhood, although you are between the light rail and the railroad tracks, so there is train noise. The regular train was very close to my apartment and would often cause shaking, which I never noticed unless I had a guest over who wasn't used to it. You can easily walk to the Dorsey/Apache light rail station (5 - 6 minute walk). I also found that the 35-minute walk from Mill was great exercise and reduced my hangover the next day. Safeway and Food City are also walkable, as well as a plethora of restaurants and bars.
I had a two bedroom place - which obviously lacks some of the bells and whistles of newer complexes (i.e. elevators and in-unit washers and dryers). I rarely used the on-site laundry facility since it was located at the front of the complex. If I"m going to schlep my clothes down three floors, I'll just go to the laundromat and save money. The covered parking is nice, although the spaces are a tad narrow. Water/sewer is included in the rent and you can pay online with a credit/debit card free of charge.
Maintenance (and the front office as well) was always very prompt and friendly. Although this place is very convenient to ASU, the complex was typically very quiet, especially during the week. If I move back to Tempe, this place is an exceptional bargain for your money, convenient to public transit and services, and is safe and quiet - I highly recommend it if you don't mind stairs and laundromats!
