| - Get surprised is right! There have been many surprises during and after my visit to this dealership and none of them good. These people are greedy, unconscionable liars who will do ANYTHING to get you to buy a car.
First, let me give a TIP for people who don't care to enjoy my novella here. The "free" oil changes they require you to buy are $75. You can cancel the "service agreement" within 30 days and get a full refund.
A few months ago I purchased a 3 year old car here. It had been in a couple of accidents, and the dealership was 2 hrs away, so I called and had Kyle in internet sales check it over. He later messaged me "it looks perfect." I got to the dealership for a test drive with salesman Mark A, who tried to lure me quickly back into the store, and when I checked out the car more, I noticed he hood was off line and there were several dents and scratches. Visibly angry since I had driven 2 hours, and they had clearly lied to me about the condition of the vehicle in order to get me up there, they placated me and assured me they weren't big issues and that they would fix it. They later said they couldn't align hood but did fix the latch. Turned out that was a lie, the latch never worked properly. When I looked under the hood, I questioned whether it might have replacement parts that may void the factory warranty. Mark laughed at me and said, "No, nothing like that." When I later tried to trade it in, a 30+ year experience mechanic showed me several replacement parts confirmed by parts labels. He also noted "crow bar marks", indicating someone had tried to fix the bent frame on the cheap, since to fix it properly would've cost thousands. He also informed me that according to the standards of the industry, it should have never been put on the lot since it had a bent frame which can cause saftey issues, one of which is the hood flying up while driving.
Actively trying to hide and minimize the needed repairs, they convinced me to take the car.
Soon after I drove it off the lot, it hit me this probably isn't the higher end model they had it listed and priced at as since some features on the window sticker didn't match the car. Then, about 45 minutes into my drive, I was trying to accelerate, but the car would only rev into high RPMs and wouldn't go. I thought maybe it was a fluke and was too exhausted to deal with it then as I still had a long drive. Next morning, it was clear that it could be something major. They told me their only recourse was to sell me a warranty and someone would get back to me but in the meantime I should take the car to the dealership to check the transmission. I took it in but the only issue they could find was that transmission fluid was a bit low.
I continued to have intermittent transmission problems, and no one had called back. I finally called and demanded a manager, but all he offered to do was to sell me a warranty for $1,500. I asked if the warranty was a 3rd party company since I was worried there would be an interest in rejecting a claim if it were a LM company. They told me it was a 3rd party. Turns out that's a lie. I had a lot of trouble obtaining info on the warranty but I did buy it. I discovered it did not cover "pre-existing conditions", so I don't think the transmission would've been covered since the issue was now on electronic record. And don't forget all the replacement parts under the hood that I didn't know about until I tried to trade it in.
One day, I was making a left-hand turn against traffic, the transmission didn't engage, and I nearly got hit. I contacted the sales manager and again went through all the issues, and he seemed sympathetic and said I could trade it in and choose from cars at any LM and said "I promise you won't lose any money".
They made me drive 2 hours back there rather than me just going to the closer LM where there were cars I was interested in, saying they would drive me to any other dealership. But when I got up there they tried to sell me a car on their lot and wouldn't come down a penny from list price even though it was a higher-priced vehicle. They were also going to charge me all the dealership fees again and weren't even considering the value of the original car I traded in. Surprise! They also had a different tune about a car I was interested in at another lot. Now they wanted to bring it to their lot, but if they did, the vehicle could no longer be sold as certified and the other dealership didn't want to do it. They had made me tell them ahead of time which vehicles I was interested in, so...WTH?
I lost $3,120 getting another car, even subtracting off the difference in vehicle prices. I'm on a fixed income, and that's nearly ΒΌ of my yearly income wasted at LM! I borrowed money to buy this vehicle and am going to be paying it back for a LONG time.
This happened to me months ago and I still wake up in the middle of the night upset about it. Do me and yourself a favor and stay away!!!
