"It's just a donut, people!" but is it really just a donut? I have to say Donut Mania knows how to do donuts. I am a donut girl, everything from old school donuts to the trend of opulent designer donuts. I have tried donuts that seemed to be the IT donut and have been sadly disappointed like Voodoo Donuts in Portland to loving little hole in the wall places like Red's Donuts in Monterey, CA. So is a donut really just a donut? Nope!
What I appreciate about Donut Mania is the foundation of their creations. That little raised donut that holds all those toppings or fillings. Like anything, if you do not have a proper foundation everything will crumble. The taste of that foundation, I found chewy and not full of air or dry. It was stable enough to hold all those crazy toppings that we all love in a designer donut.
I was here with a friend and I bought six and so did he. We ate one at Donut Mania and brought the rest back to our respective homes. I decided on the PB&J, Samoa, Donutella, Cherry Cheesecake, The Nevadian and Mint Chocolate Chip. I actually loved all of them but my favorites had to be the Samoa and The Nevadian only because I like coconut. All of them were solid and you cannot go wrong with what you choose.
I am looking forward to heading back to Donut Mania and indulging on their other Designer Donut creations with that great raised donut foundation.
