Honestly, it is sometimes hard to find a vet who doesn't focus on raking up your bill. Tests, medications, food and even treats all add up when you're at the vet. Brimely-lawrence doesn't focus on that. They won't guilt trip you to do something you aren't comfortable with and will give you honest opinions. They're very up front about their costs and aren't defensive if you want to discuss alternatives. I've spent a lot there as is but I didn't feel pressured into any of those payments, unlike my experiences at several other vets I've gone to downtown and in the bayview area.
Mind you, this isn't a fancy vet and you won't get that calm peaceful waiting room experience before your appointment here. It's a walk-in clinic and can sometimes get absolutely hectic while you wait hours to see a vet. Don't let that deter you because once that wait is over, you know your pet will be taken care of appropriately. When you see the vet, it's never rushed.
Unfortunately there seems to only be one or two vets on any given shift but that's not enough to alleviate the amount of pets that come in.
I've had my cat hospitalized there for kidney issues... I felt bad for him staying there. Lets just say it's not the best place if you want to "room" your pet while you're on vacation. However, in terms of hospitalization, the staff was very attentive and was willing to give an update at any point in the day. I visited just before closing and the staff let me stay after-hours, even after most of the staff/vets left for the night without rushing me. I really appreciated that. If there's anything I can saw about this clinic is that they actually care for the pets that are brought in and understand the relationship pet owners have with their fur babies.
