  • I went to Drais Nightclub at The Cromwell during fourth of July weekend to see Trey Songz because my girlfriend who visited from Chicago is a big fan. I'm not a hardcore fan but I know the hits & some of the older stuff at least so we were both excited. Never having been to this club I didn't know what to expect. First you get into a line downstairs, go through security... they have security like at the airport which was interesting lol. Then you take an elevator to go upstairs where you walk down hill & then down some stairs to reach get to the main room, the upper level is a V.I.P. area. That was kind of a pain in the ass. We got there pretty early to experience the club & see what it was all about but there was hardly anyone dancing until about 1AM which was boring. Very different from my experience at Hakkasan where the minute I walked in it felt like a giant party. They do have some cool professional dancers performing & I was impressed that they were dancing with choreography for quite a long time & I watched that a bit while I was bored. Another positive is that they play really good music which can be very hit or miss at other places. Very urban, lot's of hip hop old school & current. The decor inside is pretty tasteful & the age group was diverse which I prefer. No one was fighting or acting a fool which was nice. Trey Songz didn't come out until 2 A.M. which for my granny-on-the-inside self was a little late. By the time he came out I was tired, impatient, & ready to head back to my hotel. Midnight would have been more ideal. The crowd was chill which I liked & no one was pushing to get towards the front. He was visible from everywhere so that was great. He sang for about an hour & that was fun. After that the club completely died out ... it seems like the party doesn't continue until closing. Overall I'd come back if I had an occasion to do so. Actually I think I'd prefer to visit the beach club because that looked like a good time. Around $60 per ticket when there's a guest like Trey Songz which is a bit much for what you're getting since the show starts so late. If you're really into a certain artist this is a good place to see them. It's also good for a more chill crowd... not over stuffed with people (considering this was a holiday weekend). If you're not into the EDM scene which is what most of the clubs on the Vegas Strip are playing then this is a good place for you.
