I finally got to Tan Lac Vien. I ordered gluten-free versions of the chicken pho and, on the recommendation of the server, the shrimp broken rice. My daughter wanted the Pad Thai. (Yes, I know that Pad Thai is not Vietnamese, but she was adamant...)
The pho was good. The broth was hearty and well-seasoned, the chicken was tasty, and the noodles were tender. It came with fragrant fresh herbs. The portion was surprisingly large. I had enough left-overs for an entire second meal! I'm not an expert, but this pho hit the spot!
The broken rice was a disappointment. It was covered in some coating that did not look gluten-free. I hope it was gluten-free because I tried a little. It wasn't a big loss because it didn't taste good at all. We will not order this dish again.
Both my husband and my daughter enjoyed the Pad Thai, which contained a generous amount of chicken. Again, they give you an enormous portion that made a second meal for her as well!
Overall, we're looking forward to our next visit!
