In an ever growing game of seeing how quickly I can kill plants, I am attempting a few tropicals in the desert. When I heard about this place from a fellow fruit tree grower whom has had success, I made a point to visit here.
Don't be fooled by the rough exterior and the dogs. Everyone...including the dogs...are sweet as can be. I met Dan and he walked me around the property on a sort of mini tour...including their tropical bird aviary rescue...and even treated me to some bananas grown on the property.
They have an extensive inventory of all types of tropicals: mango, starfruit, Jamaican, Barbados, and Suriname cherry. Figs. sugarcane. Banana. And so much more. All sizes. They give you a great rundown of how to plant, how much sun or shade, water suggestions, and cold protection suggestions. I wound up getting an ice cream mango and a Turkish fig and both are putting on new growth 3 months later!
These guys are really friendly and seem to know what they're doing. they've apparently been around a long time so listen to them and you can get it to grow here!
