  • Passable cheapish room midweek if you're just looking to sleep (about $45 after resort fee thru Hotwire). Review is just for the hotel, not the casino, haven't really spent any time down there. Hotel was originally built in 1906 and it reminds me strongly of the old SROs in San Francisco I've stayed at that started out as lodging for sailors, just with a private bathroom and less crazy neighbors here. Very small, some old-school fixtures, thin walls but if it's the warm season you can just run the air all night for pretty good white noise. And at least they don't seem to have conjoining doors. Rooms opposite Fremont are otherwise reasonably quiet, Fremont speakers reduced to a dull thump from there. If you absolutely need something for a one-nighter downtown midweek just to sleep and do nothing else it's worth looking at. Sparse on the amenities though -- you have to go all the way over to the D for the fitness center, and it's the first place I've stayed that they don't leave water cups in the room! Bring a water bottle so you don't get stuck buying a $2 soda can out in the hall. WiFi also free for only one device, $10 for each additional.
