I love little ethnic places where the menu is limited and all the focus is on their specialties. That's why I made the trek to I Naba for the special zaru soba.
Verdict? It was OK...
The best part of the Zaru Soba was probably the noodles which were thin and chewy. Otherwise, I wasn't impressed with the broth which I thought was not enough flavor and a tad bit salty. Also, the portion was TINY!! They really should have an option for a larger size.
I also ordered the Saba Nanban Zuke. Dislike!
First, it's fried but served chilled which I definitely wasn't expecting.
The skin is still on (which I prefer not to eat) so it was diffcult separating the meat from the skin, especially using chopsticks.
It was also tossed with some sliced veggies and a yuzu-type marinade.
Sorry but I didn't find much to like about this dish.
At the end of the meal, they bring you a little pot filled with broth that was used to cook the soba and it's supposed to be mixed with the your leftover broth. I thought it was a little strange, but I actually enjoyed it =)
Service was spectacular!!
Just wished the food was better =/
