| - I can only speak about the International Terminal (Terminal D), but this is the cleanest and most spacious airport I have been to in a long time. Immediately after landing at YYC and stepping out, you have to walk a fair amount to get to customs. The process is very simple if you have a Canadian or US passport as there are kiosks that scan your customs form, before you actually speak to a customs officer. That officer will just review everything quickly to make sure everything is in order.
After stepping outside, there is a huge sculpture of stallions, alongside additional seating and a restaurant. I arrived and had to wait for some friends, so I explored the area and found an amazing array of holiday decorations. The Tim Horton's on the second level is definitely the best place to grab something to eat, as all the tables are near outlets. The YYC free wifi is reliable and I was able to get quite a bit of work done while I waited.
When departing YYC, I found it unique that the bag check is completely automated. You check in at a kiosk which prints your baggage tag, and you set your bag on the automated conveyer belt. Just be sure to have you tag bar code visible so that the scanner on the conveyer belt can register it. A surprise to me, we went through customs before getting on our flight, which saved a lot of time when we finally landed at our end destination.
Everything about this airport is very quick, very clean, and it was a pleasure flying through.
