I am using boyfriends account because I typically don't write reviews but I had to for this experience. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with thorncliffe automotive repair. I recently moved to the thorncliffe area so this was the closest mechanic to me. The lock on my driver's side had completely gave out and fell into the door so I called to make an appointment here. I was told on the phone that as long as I bring my car in before 7:50 in the morning I would be able to have it looked at first. Between the day that I made my appointment and the actual day of my appointment (about 2 weeks) my passenger lock had gave out and fallen in as well. I had taken my door apart to see what could have been the issue and I seen that the bolt holding the lock was missing. The morning of my appointment I arrived at the shop at 7:40 and I was quite surprised at the lack of customer service I received from the man behind the desk. I barely received a hello, and I was met with mocking and sarcasm about the fact that my locks had fallen into the door. I informed him that both locks had given out but to fix only the drivers side. I got one word answers along with we'll call you. A few hours after I left the shop I received a call from the same man I had dealt with that morning and he had informed me that it was only a bolt that had became loose and just needed replacing. I asked if they had bolts in shop or if they would have to order one in. He said that it was part of the shop stock so no ordering had to be done. He then proceeded to tell me the price was over 300$! He told me that it was nearly two hours for labor for both doors and an extra half hour because that's how long it took them to figure out the problem. In disbelief, I questioned how it could take a mechanic 30 minutes to figure out the issue when it was so obvious to me in the first 30 seconds of taking apart the door. He then quickly said "oh okay we wont charge your for that then". I went on explaining how that should be included in the labor cost and how unreasonable that would be but the man cut me off saying "okay ANYWAYS, we will call you when its done". Three hours later i asked my boyfriend to call and when he did, the man said they just finished it as he called so I left to pick up my car. When I entered the office, the man walked in through the back, said absolutely nothing, went behind the desk and took the key of the wall and pretty much chucked it in front of me. I was so shocked at the lack of manners I was getting from this man I was speechless. The only words he said to me when I was in that office was "sign here" on the receipt. Nothing else. I was absolutely stunned. I am not sure if this was because I am young or a women or what, I have never been treated like this by any mechanic and never have I had anyone try to take advantage of my money by charging me for over 300$ for a missing screw! I don't know if this gentlemen had an awful day or something but I will never return here for any work, and I will steer anyone I know away from this place. I am more than happy to drive further to receive at least some common sense manners.
