Expectations were definitely not met with this hotel.
We started off with a long line at check in. This was understandable given that it's a large hotel resort and it was the weekend. Once I reached the counter, the associate provided me with a free buffet for two when I inquired about upgrades available. This was essentially the only high point of my entire stay here.
We arrive in the room and it was obvious this is one of the older hotels on the strip. The carpets had old faded stains, room was slightly musty, and there was green/blue mildew in the shower head. Although all of this is bad, it's not bad enough in my book to warrant a one star review. Here's the kicker that drove them down to the lowest rating possible - moths.
I had five moths coming out of the ventilation system over the course of a single night. I killed three and cleaned up the mess but after I had to kill the fourth and fifth one, I just left their dead bodies on the walls and called down to the front desk for a different room. I was initially met with "we're fully booked tonight" and it wasn't until I insisted on getting out of this room that they moved us. They did not seem taken aback from moths in the vents as it sounds like it's a regular occurrence - "People leave the windows open and that's how they get into the rooms and vents. Nothing we can do about it." Their only compensation for my disgusting inconvenience was to take off one out of two nights' resort fees.
I don't know about you, but I for one don't enjoy sharing my room with a colony of moths.
