  • The staff at the Pet Hotel are very friendly at check in and check out, and are very enthusiastic about the pets they take care of, so I felt confident that my dogs were in good hands for a few days. That being said, PetSmart needs to change is their bathroom break policy. The standard is two 15 minute potty and exercise breaks per day. If you want any additional breaks you have to pay for them. Really, two breaks per day is not enough. My dog lost her voice either here or at the location she stayed at right before. She knows to cry or howl at home when she wants to go outside. I can only imagine she was probably crying to go out and no one let her out because it wasn't her scheduled time. Obviously she could go in her kennel but she is house trained and rarely has accidents, so she would probably avoid going in a small enclosed space. :( This is really just a fault of whoever is setting the PetSmart policy at the corporate level, because it seems that all the stores are the same. I would think every 7-8 hours should be the maximum in between breaks, and every 5-6 would be ideal. Taking care of a dog's most basic needs shouldn't cost extra!
