| - I've been wanting to eat at Bacchanal for quite some time. I found the perfect timing when it was my boyfriends birthday weekend in Vegas. I literally heard nothing but great things about this buffet from friends that had been here before, however started to have second thoughts about shelling out a pretty penny based on some of the bad reviews.
It was one of those places where I made it a point to make sure to include it in my itinerary to visit-and looked forward to it for over a year, and somewhat was the reason why I was excited to come to Vegas. I'm a little torn- I'm glad I did get to experience this buffet, and at the same time I'm not.
Let me tell you the common and obvious- My love and I went here during lunch on a Monday afternoon, which is cheaper than the dinner rate. Bacchanal if you didn't know now is VERY popular. We waiting in line for about 45 to an hour. Since the line wasn't going to take more than an hour we weren't required to check in at the kiosk. My bf wasn't initially very happy at the fact that we had to wait so long. We had our luggage since we freshly checked out and just got out of the spa, and we were starving. We eventually made it, and paid. Tip is paid at the register. Register lady wasn't hella friendly but whatever she doesn't handle food. THENNN!!!! You have to wait in line to be seated after you finished waiting in line to pay. As we got closer to the entrance I could smell seafood.
So I'll say this- I think the pricy fee is worth it if you're a seafood lover. I don't care at all for seafood and I'm also extremely allergic to Shellfish. I had failed to overlook the choices before dragging ourselves here. My boyfriend on the other hand was having a blast. Seafood is his favorite food and he also has a big appetite. It was his birthday weekend and I made it a point to enjoy it for him. He said the seafood was very fresh, and he said the crab legs were hella good. His favorite were the baked muscles. I liked the fact that they had some brunch options as that made it easy for me to eat. I do regret eating tomato bisque as a starter. It tasted very weird to me and I think it might've had some seafood in it. My stomach wasn't doing great once I had that. I tried to stay positive and optimistic about the other dishes. Unfortunately none of the cooked, non seafood choices were rather enticing to me. Even pizza at the buffet didn't taste so great to me. Maybe it was the tomato bisque that had ruined my taste buds for the rest of my lunch or maybe it was the fact that I could smell the seafood that my boyfriend was eating in front of me. I loved the prime rib, but I just wished the piece that I got wasn't so bloody. Thankfully the dessert was something I could get down on. Again, my stomach wasn't going to have it with me. I had a bowl of Gelato which was amazing with some of the AMAZING hazelnut pudding. AMAZING! I didn't care too much for the other desserts like the smaller stuff and the cupcakes.
In total I came back to get food at least 4 times. I felt fine until I after that bowl of Gelato. I'm nothing near lactose intolerant but damn I felt the dephs of hell trying to make way out of me. As we left the buffet, I had to use the bathroom.- No now #2 but I found myself throwing up everything that I had ate that day. I felt sad yet felt better because I was no longer feeling sick or nauseous. Sad because that was like $45 down the toilet.
THE GOOD NEWS is that my boyfriend really liked the food, service was alright and that was very important to me. He said that it was good, but still considered it pricey. Nonetheless I don't think this buffet is for me, but if I needed to I would definitely give it another try.
