Fantastic store and exactly what I've been yearning for in my hometown of 20 years since the sad closing of the Reading Room at the Mandalay Shops. This is a classic indy bookstore (tho not quite Portlandia) with an owner and staff who know their stuff, are very nice, and very passionate about books, and promoting the fun of reading in children. There is a good selection of classic and contemporary literature as well as paperback novels and other popular fiction. They didn't have any Wallace Stegner but the owner told me she wants to include more regional and unique authors like him in the over several months, which I thought was great. She also pointed out a small section with childrens books written by noted authors and I bought a really intriguing book called Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie. The childrens section was a real hit with my young daughters along with the piano which I was told gets used regularly by local aficionados. They also have a couple of bookcases outside the front door with childrens books that are free for the taking (4 per child).
