| - Limited by time, expenses, language barrier and a whole host of excuses you might conjure up to deny yourself that European dream get-away, The Venetian hotel in the City of Sin is the closest one can get - well, in a glammed up, glitzed out a la Vegas-style manner so redolent of Murica - to experiencing in a small way the majestic wonder that is Venice, the Queen of the Sea, without actually going to Italy or even leaving the country.
Trying its hardest to be a microcosm of Venice, The Venetian does do a few things well: Beautiful marble flooring, canals with singing gondoliers atop sleek black gondolas, and grand murals on the ceiling reminiscent of the ones you'd see on churches around the Piazza San Marco.
Now, to get into a bit more detail: The Venetian has suites, not rooms. They are as spacious as a one room apartment and immaculate. Each suite has its own marble flooring, sunken living area, and large bathroom with double sinks. Furthermore, if you're lucky, it'll also has a wonderful view of the strip and the nearby mountains. What I liked most was the hotel can also pull double duty as a superb place for shopping (Right, Ladies?). With its plethora of stores, restaurants, relaxing gondola rides located in and around their grand canal, I found it traumatizingly hard to leave at the end of my stay.
Furthermore, the Hotel staff was fantastic - very accommodating to all our needs. Even though general housekeeping is not quite up to the level of 5 star hotels, if you request it of them, they will get the job done. Security is great as well. Also loved that they are located within walking distance of all the attractions the Strip has to offer.
In the end, definitely one of the nicest hotels I've had the pleasure of staying at in Vegas; however, please, do yourself a favor and get thee to the real Venice before this jewel forever sinks beneath the rising waves of the Adriatic.
