| - I've been to Ladies & Gentlemen about 3 or 4 times with my friend Laura for basic haircuts. Starting with the plusses, they generally start with a pleasant greeting and you wait in a lounge area with coffee and water available. Then they whisk you off to be shampooed, condition, and they give you- get this- a mini facial and hand massage! Needless to say, the pre-cut pampering is exceptional and comes entirely with your cut (they don't even accept tips!).
When it comes to cuts, I've had a couple good experiences and a couple bad experiences. Overall, I've never been absolutely thrilled with a cut, but I've only been disappointed once. That one time, I asked to have my bangs trimmed, and she parted my hair so far over that on the average day, I have bangs on both side (I only want them on one). The same hairdresser ignored me when I asked her to twist my hair as it dried, otherwise it would come out puffy. She got lazy, and I got turned into the cover girl of your mom's old Redbook magazine. Then she was all, "Ehhm, do you ehhmm like itt?" Now, I'm not the type to be rude, but I warned her and she ignored me, so I said, "Of course I don't like it! I look like I'm from the 80s!" (I love the 80s, but not on my head.) So the poor girl had to use a curling iron to re-straighten and manually curl each strand. I'm sorry, but she deserved to do the extra work! I know curly hair is hard, it's different in different people, etc., but you know what? Deal with it. Hopefully not all your customers are the same.
I'll be trying somewhere new after this experience, but for the most part, I have enjoyed being a customer at Ladies & Gentlemen.
