Sorry but they were far from being helpful!! I came in after already paid for a diagnostic check somewhere else. I told the bearded guy if he can give me an idea of what they would charge for same services quoted, like for example, what they would charge to change out a serpentine belt. He looked over the list of services and told me sorry they are unable to quote me but will have to charge me $115 to run their own diagnostic check. I politely smiled and understood where this was going.
By the way Sun Auto, I did call several places before stepping into your establishment. They did quote me the their cost for parts and labor without trying to get me to run another diagnostic test. I just came in because someone recommended you guys months ago, telling me that you guys seemed honest. There is nothing wrong with giving a customer a quote for what you guys charge for a certain part and the labor. If it is a repair that you guys can perform why shouldn't the customer be able to get a quote whether the car needs it or not. It's still just a quote. I called Goodyear and got a quote from them without any run around.
Update: To reply to Sun Auto's response, that's like saying if I had asked about a tune up from you guys, you won't tell me until the car is inspected. Your policy is designed to rip off consumers. Thank you but no thanks.
