This is my 2nd favourite place to watch a film in the city. The reno really made it nice.
First of all there are the films: great mix and sometimes they show something that nobody else will play.
Prices are super reasonable, at least for your ticket. And on Tuesday all shows are $5.
Yes, the auditoriums and screens and sound are all dated, even with the reno but I don't mind. In fact, I prefer it. You still enjoy the film. I only go to the megaplexes for the "must see on the best screen/sound films". In fact, a key reason to come here instead is that ill behaved tweens and teens tend to stay away since it isn't very cool to be seen here. Hence, your screening has less chance of being interrupted by chatter or texting.
The kids who work here are always nice.
Let's not forget the location--right off the subway!--and close to cheap eats.
Bonus points for having a pretty cool lobby, complete with piano.
Highly recommended! (I wish this was a Hot Docs Festival venue)
