  • I am writing to offer some suggestions for improvement. My experience was okay, but certainly not what I was hoping for. I was dehydrated from 7 days of flu and 2 days of diarrhea. I was ill and called ahead of time to see if IV fluids would be a possibility. The front desk said "Yes, this was something that was offered at their location that day." I needed to know before I got there to make a determination whether to go to Urgent Care or a hospital ER. So, I continued on to Urgent Care. While waiting for my visit, I also spoke again with the front desk to ask how many doctors were available and who administered the IV. There were very few people waiting yet not much movement in patients. I was told that there was one Physician's Assistant (no doctor) and that the Medical Assistant administered the IV. After approx. 3 hours of waiting, I was seen and examined. At that time I was told that the PA was not comfortable administering IV fluids. I was disappointed. I must say that I was satisfied with her service and with the service of the assistants who attended me while I was there for another 2 hours. It was extremely long and I was exhausted. I was given a urine test to determine if IV fluids would be recommended and told they would find a location that would offer this service if it was warranted. This was fair. As I had been working at dehydration since 3:30 that morning, it does seem that I had made some progress and the limited test showed IV was not recommended (no sodium or potassium levels were given). So, they prescribed some meds that lowered my blood pressure and gave me some cough med. I believe they followed the course they were able to under the circumstance. However, I believe that the front desk person could have been a bit more knowledgeable about the people on duty that day so that I could have received the care I was seeking. Urgent Care may have a place in this world, but the lack of a doctor on duty is not advertised or made known at any time unless asked. Neither is the lack of staff on any given day. The wait is as long as any ER in the area. Additionally, the facility was lovely and spacious, but I soon realized that it was not clean. The tile floors hide a multitude of dirt layers and the toilet was not working properly though they had had someone look at it prior to that day. It was also not clean. Improvement is needed here on several easy levels.
