| - Village Ice Cream is close to down town and easy to walk to, but at the same time is hidden enough from plain site, and is an area where you wouldn't expect to find an ice cream shop, giving it that bit of extra excitement. Even though I've been several times, I still feel like I'm in on the best kept secret every time I go. It's exciting to find an unexpected ice cream shop, but once the smell of waffle cone comes wafting past your nostrils, you know you're in for something even better.
Every hipster buzz word rings true with Village ice cream. "Small batch, artisanal, hand crafted..." I'm beginning to think Village Ice Cream is the reason these words are so popular to begin with. Sure, other businesses have been trying to get in on these words, but Village lives it. The extra local love they mix into their ice cream really shows through in their flavours.
They do the classics like chocolate and vanilla, but then you can get in on some more complex, adult versions like Cardamom or Earl Grey.
A two scoop with Salted Caramel and Coconut is a great option. The salted caramel is big, rich and full flavours, and the coconut while still creamy works to balance it out a bit.
If you love your scoop and want to take some with you, stock your freezer up with some of their ice cream sandwiches for a tasty treat at home. Personally though, I sort of like going out for it. The activity of "going for ice cream" can be every bit as enjoyable as the ice cream itself. Well, normally that's true, that is until you've tried Village.
