| - Generally quite good. Cashes are run well, which is crucial--never a long wait, every cashier I've ever had here is SERIOUSLY excellent at their job; customer service is amazing in general. The managers here clearly know what they're doing, overall.
Actual quality is very, very weird, in that it's super hit or miss. Each category of item is usually either excellent or awful. Most produce is generally excellent, greens in particular. Citrus fruits like lemons, limes, orange, grapefruit are terrible, not juicy, usually either not ripe or they've been sitting there and are well gone, I actually come here then just go to sobeys for lemons and limes which is irritating. They have the best fish I've purchased at any grocery store, quite consistently--organic atlantic salmon in particular. Around the corner from the fish, the beef is terrible, steak especially is completely worthless here despite fairly high prices. Bread is pretty good. Every single thing I've ever tried at the dessert counter (hint: a whole lot) is awful--other longos I've been to have better desserts than many high end small bakeries, this one produces inedible cardboard. Very strange how things vary between sections of the store.
Overall I do about 70% of my regular grocery shopping here and I'm very happy. Prices are a bit high on regular grocery items in the aisles, but not terrible--way less crazy than the superstore and cash registers being well run makes such a difference that I'm fine with a bit of a higher total. The 30% of items for which I go elsewhere are mainly citrus, beef, and desserts.
