| - Be very aware this is NOT a retreat center where quiet and solitude happen. It is a very busy place with many functions going on at once and overlapping with each other and its participants.
It is a small plot of land situated between businesses and Carefree suburbia; meaning there are active buildings and traffic surrounding the place. It is NOT out by itself away from major activity. Granted, I will say it is not in a metropolis area.
The rooms are VERY noisey and some of them have shared temperature controls between the rooms. Meaning you do NOT have control over the thermostat unless alone. If neighbors of want to make it like a freezer or an oven not much can be done without compromise. You can hear talking and snoring through the walls. If people aren't thoughtful about that it can become quite bothersome and frustrating. I spent much of the time I was in my room with ear plugs in from all the noise.
There are constant slamming doors from automatic closing and since they are heavy, you hear and feel doors slamming throughout the building on a regular basis.
The staff have been wonderful but that doesn't make up for the noise or uncompromising, aggressive guests.
I did have one of the staff members remove some items of mine from my room that were never returned after I brought it to their attention.
I would NOT recommend this place if looking for a quiet retreat center. A conference works because most conferences are not quiet. However this was advertised as a "retreat" center; a place to find yourself and solitude.
The landscape workers show up a couple times a week pretty early in the mornings with their machinery which also contributes to the lack of quiet, along with hearing road noise from nearby major roads a few blocks a way.
The food served by the staff was really great! They did a great job with diversity and flavor, and always with a smile. It and the staff were the best part. However I could have experienced them without staying here and stayed elsewhere and commuted for the retreat.
The front desk girls, maintenance fella, and the office staff were marvelous, but most of them get to leave and aren't in their rooms paying for quiet, solitude, sleep, and comfortable temperatures.
The wifi worked with zero problems.
Be sure and do your research and ask questions before going to new places like this to help alleviate being let down. Seriously, no question is too small if you are wanting something and think that is what you are going to receive for the price you pay monetarily, not to mention how draining it is to find out otherwise too late.
