It is the little things, really. Like how grateful I am that this Las Vegas morning during which I am drafting this review is only 79 degrees. I am currently stuck on a tarmac in an Allegiant jet forty minutes after scheduled takeoff. Another little thing to be grateful for? Stop the presses, Allegiant actually gave out water. The airline famous for nickel-and-diming customers to death actually gave a freebie (albeit four sips of water).
They have a great business model in theory... Flying direct to regional airports at low fares. However, low fares mean just that: fare only. Even a carryon costs money, and oddly enough, the price varies depending on your destination. Today I am spending $13 extra to put my teeny little suitcase above my head and then to sit on the tarmac and arrive late.
You have to weigh the options flying with them. Yes it is cheap, but not if you have you know, personal belongings you need to travel with.
Finally they decided it was idiotic to utilize Southwest's beloved "choose your own seat" method and have changed to assigned seating. I'm surprised... Didn't they used to make money off people wanting an assigned seat? Customer service isn't great, but what airline does anymore? Their job is super hard and I have immense respect for flight attendants who have to deal with angry customers al day long.
Not my favorite, but a necessary evil. Now can this plane start please?
