| - This review is based on 3-4 trips to Crunch Fitness. One on a weekend morning and three times in a weekday evening. Given that the peak gym registration period is right around the corner here is my review.
So first lets start with a brief history lesson. Ten or eleven years ago my wife and I joined the Premier Fitness in this location while their Meadowvale town centre location was under construction. Premier went under and this became Erin Mills Fitness (EMF). Goodlife put a McFit, now Fit4Less, across the street just to put EMF under pressure. EMF Folded, and was taken over by World Gym. World Gym sold a number of their locations over to Crunch Fitness and now I'm back here.
So here we are with this being Crunch's only location in Mississauga. I took the plunge and signed up for the 12 month paid in full membership. In my case I wanted a place that was open late in the evenings, and close to home. There were two goodlife locations closer but the price was right. I'm not looking for oodles of added services so this was a good fit for me.
Basically the layout of the club has not changed since the Premier days. Nothing wrong with that. Its intuitive and easy to find all of the equipment. A couple of things I would like to see are a renovation to the showers. They are really showing their age.
The equipment itself all looks to be in fairly new / well maintained condition. It is split well into equipment "families" all of the basic machines together, the cable stuff, better machines, hammer fitness, and free weights
They have a swmming pool, cardio theater and a personal training theater. I cannot comment on the group cardio classes. The training theatre is great when you are working with a trainer or having a fitness assessment.
Their upgraded membership grants access to classes, tanning, and hydro massage tables. The massage tables are awesome! I cannot comment on the other two items
Off to the membership there seems to be a wide variety in clientele. For some reason there are a lot of men with beards there. There is also at least one disgusting man there. I saw I pale-skinned white man with dark hair, drying his butt crack with a hair dryer. I reported it to management. I will never use a hair dryer there!
Overall, its a good gym. I don't regret signing up!
