| - Went into the dealership this evening to look at used cars, with a price in mind, that we could afford. The sales guy walked us around the lot, with no car in mind (after we told him what we were looking for); He was just looking on his phone, not having any idea what kind of inventory he had; also no suggestions of vehicles for what we were looking for.
We were interested in a vehicle that was a little bit out of our price range (car was 17k and we only wanted to spend 15k out-the-door). Instead of looking at other options within our price range or offering a counter offer, he had the F&I guy come out to tell us they wouldn't budge on pricing, and then the sales guy came out, a minute after, telling us we need to be more realistic and they have a business to run. Absolutely had no intention of finding us a vehicle in our price range, completely unmotivated to work with us on anything, and basically lost a customer because he was lazy.
I work with car dealerships every day, and I have to say it's incredibly disappointing to see this kind of behavior. As much as I advocate for dealerships nationwide, it's alarming to see dealerships throw business away as if they don't need it. Although that might be true, offending your customers is never the way to go.
There's a reason why most people don't like their experience at car dealerships.
