  • My search for a good barber continues. Jesse's is a legit old-school barber place like I wanted, but I had the worst haircut/beard trim I've ever had. There were 2 barbers today: 1 man who is the guy pictured in the photos who seemed like he was doing a great job on the other customer. The other was an Asian woman who should be avoided at all costs. I asked her if she could razor shave my head and trim up my beard; she said yes. I don't think she ever understood what I meant. I teach foreigners English for a living, so I'm great at explaining things to those who don't fully speak English. She never understood that I wanted my head shaved with a razor. More than this, she butchered my beard, gouged my head, and poked me in the eye with the edge of the clippers. She also answered her phone to have a lengthy conversation in the middle of this. I've had plenty of female barbers; plenty who can't speak English perfectly, but she injured me. When she jammed the edge of the clippers in my eye, I said, "Okay, we're done. Please stop." I had to physically push her hands away and step out of the chair as I was bleeding. I asked her how much, and she said $15. She did apologize with each gouge, jam, and yank from unsharpened clippers, but it was really too much. The blades she used felt dull. She also used a Norelco on part of my face. When she finished the left part of my beard was a full inch longer than the right, I asked her to even it up, but when she gouged my eye and left me bleeding, I was done. Maybe she could've evened it out, but I didn't trust her hands and wanted to get something to stop the bleeding from under my eye. I had to go to another barber to get all the uneven areas fixed. I saw there was a "Now Hiring" sign up--and it's clear why. I'd love to give Jesse's another chance, but avoid this woman. She doesn't speak enough English to understand what you want, she doesn't cut evenly, and in my case, she left me bleeding with a bruise.
