We've been on an Asian cuisine kick lately and decided it was time to revisit Los Reyes. It was 6:30pm by the time we arrived. For a Saturday eve, it was fairly empty. New menu with same items only slightly higher prices.
I ordered the Ranchera Torta with refried beans and hubby had Milanese de pollo with refried beans. Both were good but I was not keen on the Mexican cheese. It was not melted and very mild. We both thought that the excellent taste was off that day. I would go back to the Noteña Torta as that has melted cheese. We were somewhat disappointed but will try again in the future.
Another visit to Los Reyes. It was later than our usual hour for eating and a bit more crowded. There were still three or four tables left. Hubby was hungry tonight and decided to splurge on the Del Rey Torta. I stuck with my order of Norteña Torta. Why ruin a good thing? The Del Rey is huge. Be hungry if you order this. He finished half of the torta. He was very satisfied with his hearty meal especially since he can have the other half later. The Torta is so big it eventually falls apart. Here is where the fork and knife come in handy. The bread is slightly toasted and very soft. Perfect for the Torta. Staff are very nice and efficient. They recognize us by now. Prices are good. It seemed noisier than usual with the TV blasting and the crowd of people in the place. No matter. We still love it here. We officially change our rating to 5 stars because the food is so consistently good. There was more of a mixture in clientele tonight as well. The word must have gotten out. Parking is somewhat limited but there is a lot.
