  • Fantastic experience. This is an Ohio City treasure. We brought my sissy here yesterday to get birthday cocktails. It's a little further down from the main drag on w. 25th. We came at 4pm, right when they opened. There's not a ton of parking and only one medium sized sign on the side of the building. As we were walking toward the back door, my husband was a bit skeptical. He made a few remarks about it looking abandoned. Don't let the outside fool you. The inside is cozy, and authentically decorated. I'm not into the tiki scene (actually, I didn't know there even WAS a tiki scene) but the decor was really cool without being over-kitsch. It was just enough kitsch. We got there before the rush. I guess around five on weekends and sometimes week nights, the place fills up and doesn't empty out until closing. Which is awesome for the bar! So glad that they're doing good business! We were glad we got there before everyone else, though. Our bartender was kind, professional, knowledgeable, and seemed to really enjoy his job. He took the time to explain each drink on the menu for us, and brought us some samples of a few of their house-made ingredients. Delicious! One was made with coconut and orange juice and some things. Another was a lime concoction that takes days to brew up. It was really amazing to me that they take such care with their ingredients which were all delicious on their own! We ordered our drinks including a Pain Killer, a Zombie, and a Mai Tai. Delicious. I am a simple wine, beer, shot kind of girl and don't put out for cocktails very often. When I do try one, I am usually disappointed. These were amazing. Some of their drinks have more than ten ingredients. They each came gorgeously embellished with fruit, fun straws, and little mermaids. The presentation was top knotch. The Zombie had dry ice in the bottom. It bubbled and smoked the entire time sissy and I sipped on it. It was fruity and bitter and delicious. No over sweetness or weird aftertastes. The Painkiller was creamy and decadent without being overly sweet. All of the drinks were large and strong, meticulously made, and definitely worth what we paid for them. This place is a passion project of a great guy who just loves tiki culture. He started this place as a method of self-expression and I am so glad that it's doing well for him and people are enjoying it. We met the owner--super nice, made sure we were having a great time, then retreated to the kitchen to make tacos. They are supposed to be expanding the menu in the next few months, all the food is made with local ingredients and they've spent months working with chefs to get the new food just right. I can't wait to go back and show off this place to someone else. Great drinks, great atmosphere, amazing service.
