| - Our primary physician referred us to Advanced Adolescent Pediatric Gastroenterology.
Pros: It was very easy to make an appointment to see Dr. Sheikh. We called other places that were closer to where we lived, the wait for new patient appointment was a few months out. Also, Dr. Sheikh is the only doctor here, so you get to see the same doctor every time. He spent a good amount of time talking to us at our appointments. He has lots of samples of nutrition supplements to give away.
Cons: Front desk staff is not well-trained. There is an office manager, who is sitting in a small cubicle. Whenever I got her to help us, everything seemed ok. Whenever other front desk ladies helped us, things went wrong. One time, I was told to wait for the office to call me when a procedure got approved, so I waited. Three weeks later, when I called the office back, I was told that I didn't have to wait this entire time, that I could just call the hospital to set up an appointment for the procedure. Another time was when we were sent to a lab for a test. My 14 month old got his blood drawn, then we found out that the blood test was not necessary. Whoever put in the lab order at the doctor office didn't not clarify the order well, so the lab just assumed it was a blood test when it was supposed to be a stool test.
Last but not least, Dr. Sheikh does not remember his patient progress. He always put notes in his laptop when he saw us. However, he asked us exact same questions every time we saw him. He probably has too many patients to take care off, or is too busy to read his old notes before seeing patients. Although he is very nice and gentle, I'm sad to say that we are in search for another pediatric gastroenterologist.
