  • Came here for the first time with a few friends on a Friday evening to check the place out since I was curious to see how this escape room compared with the other ones I've been to in Markham. It is located on Highway 7, right across from First Markham Place which makes it a great location since you have many food options to choose from before or after your escape room session. I had made a booking online which saved all of us $3 instead of paying the regular $28 admission fee. After liking the Trapped Canada Facebook page and sharing their video at the reception desk, we were each given a membership card which gives us 10% off on future visits. The more you visit, the more points you accumulate which unlocks different perks like free beverages, access to certain escape rooms, and an annual event. The rules and instructions were given to us after all paperwork and payment were collected. There were lockers for belongings and a closet for coats. Similar to other escape rooms, we were lined up in a single file line with blindfolds on and were led into the room given an hour to escape. The leader of the group is given a walkie talkie that can be used when hints are required. You are only limited to 2 hints throughout your one hour experience which make it more challenging. We had chosen the Contaminated Hospital for our first visit. The level of difficulty for all the rooms were the same so if I were to rate the difficult, I would give this room a 2-3/5. Regarding the actual escape room experience without giving anything away, not much technology or mechanics were used, which was a little disappointing. Although there was more than one room to escape from, nothing really surprised me because you clearly saw the exits. All the decor, locks, and puzzles were very basic items, maybe it was the theme of this particular room, so I can't say for the others. One thing I didn't really like was that there was no timer in the room, so you don't know how much time has actually passed until the people tell you through the walkie talkie. I'll probably be back for another visit just to see how my second experience will compare with my first as I don't think a review on one room is fair. Hopefully my second experience will be better :)
