| - We used to live across from this particular Heinen's for two years. It was nice to just cross the road and walk back with a few bags, not a carload. To this day it is the only Heinen's i've really ever frequented. I'm contemplating trying out the Rocky River one out of pure nostalgia, but i heard from multiple sources that everyone who shops there is a snooty asshole.
Anyhow, this store was awesome. Very inviting and almost European, unlike the harsh lighting and decor of Narc's. The beer selection was top notch(gee, first thing i mentioned was the beer. i need AA). The meat department, when i used to eat land dwelling meat, was immaculate. Bakery was aromatic and the cheese/deli areas offered many premium choices. Produce was very fresh. Staff were clean cut and friendly.
Now at the time, i didn't realize it was expensive, because we shopped nowhere else to compare, had a roommate who paid for food but never ate any, and we all had better jobs. Now looking back, i probably wasted a lot of money just for convenience. Which is what i do at Giant Egret these days. I guess i could add the River branch into the rotation of Nature's Bin, Trader Joe's and Target and not feel the pinch too much. No matter what, i am not shopping at Narc's.
