I enjoy La Cave.
The privately owned bar is filled with both regulars who like imported beers, college thinkers and their friends from out of town.
Seriously, when I have a friend visit this is one of the places I like to take them. The space is large enough that USUALLY you can get a decent square of land to park. They have great cheese plates, and breads and other classy items that only make the experience more whole.
I personally like drinking cocktails so the fact that the owner and most of his staff understand and can actually recommend cocktails is a huge plus. I'm so used to bars that only know "sex on the beach" and party drinks. At La Cave they actually recommend martini's or mixed drinks with a history and charm. On top of that, they make them well and you enjoy the flavor. I can't recall getting a bad drink here.
Truth be told some new people have come on staff that may or may not be as gifted, but I tend to think that he intends to keep this level of staff.
The weekends and regular drinking nights this place can easily get insanely packed, so be prepared but all and all if you like the local flare of a swanky yet comfortable bar La Cave is sure to keep you coming back.
