  • OK, with 276 reviews and a solid 5 star rating on Yelp, there is no question the food here is outstanding. Not because I am saying so, but because 275 other people are saying so. So I am going to choose to not speak about the delicious morsels we consumed for lunch nor show you photos of those morsels, but rather to express a bit about Anthony, the owner of Gaucho, who was behind the counter taking our order and running the register when we stopped in today. Go to Gaucho because of Anthony. It is a rarity to meet someone like him in the restaurant business. Because the beauty of a great meal is not only about the food, but it is the "experience" that comes with that food. In addition to really having a winning personality and a top notch customer service touch, Anthony has a passion for his menu, his kitchen, his food and his staff. Although he does not seem like the kind of guy who is ever going to flash his culinary credentials, after prodding it out of him a bit, clearly he has a great pedigree in the business and it is to Pittsburgh's great fortune that he has chosen to share the culmination of this experience and his craft here in the Strip District. He was sincerely welcoming, genuinely interested in sharing his knowledge about the food from his kitchen and exuded respect, fun and flair with us and also with his staff. Go to Gaucho because it is a worthy unique opportunity to taste something special. More importantly though, go to Gaucho because you want to meet Anthony and support this good guy and his great staff who are really doing something special in the food world.
