| - After 25+ years with State Farm, I am leaving because of Karen Wright. I had another agent, but when I moved to another state I couldn't keep her, so I found this branch. All was great as long as I paid my bill (over 6 years), but the second I had a claim, and questioned a few things she became the most surly, nasty, rude person I've ever had to deal with.
I had a single-car accident on a rainy day. I called her, told her what happened while I waited for the tow truck. I didn't think it was really a big deal, the bumper was scuffed but it wouldn't start. I called my regular mechanic who told be about the fuel cut-off switch. I found it, flipped it, and the car started, so I called her back told her things seemed pretty okay and would deal with things after my husbands surgery, and I drove home. I could tell the alignment was off but wan'ts too worried about it. I was more concerned with my husbands surgery in a couple of days.
Almost a week later I took the car in and it was much worse than just an alignment and scuffed bumper ~ the tie rods had been bent and the frame slightly tweaked. I called Karen. She said that she was confused, that I had told her the car was okay and why was a placing a claim almost a week later? I reminded her about the surgery, and she sighed and said she'd start the claim.
She gave me the phone number for a car rental agency to use. A few hours later I called them to set up getting a car. Unfortunately the car rental agency had not yet received any info from Karen's office. So I called her again, and she was angry because she was busy and I didn't give her enough time to submit the claim. It had been over 3 hours. She didn't tell me to wait, how would I know otherwise?
The claim adjuster came out, wrote the report and cut a check...... I did not get a single call from Karen's office. I found out when the mail came and there was a check enclosed. So I called her, and yes I was unhappy. She then sent me to another shop for the work. because my shop wasn't equipped for the frame & body work. That place was the worst. They didn't communicate with me or my husband, and her office didn't communicate with us either. We had no idea what was going on. Then when we did get info, Karen would say one thing and then the shop would say the polar opposite. So we started asking questions and then she got really nasty.
Now, I could be wrong, but isn't it the insurance agents job to make you feel like you are being taken care of? Even if they are not doing exactly what we want, shouldn't they at least appear to have sympathy? Isn't that why we have insurance? To make us feel like everything with be taken care of in the even of an accident? Doesn't she understand when people have accidents they are stressed out? And on top of that she knew a few months earlier I had almost died from a medical condition, was still in recovery and now my husband just had surgery (not that it was her problem, but it did add to our stress).
One of the questions that I asked her had to do with the shop that she had the car towed to for the repairs. I disagreed with a "finding". She kept talking over me, interrupting me, and telling me to listen to her. Well, let me finish my sentence then you can respond. One of the things that I brought up was that of course the shop that she had recommended wouldn't challenge her on anything because she was a referral source and they wouldn't jeopardise that and lose her business. She told me that she wasn't a referral source for them. Ummm, really? You sent me there, you referred me to their service, you send many of your clients there and you're "not a referral source"? oh, because other insurance companies use them too? All that mean is they have many referral sources.
Well, that was it. After 25+ years of having polices for 2 house, 2 cars, life, and term life for me, my husband, and my kid (not to mention my siblings and their families and all their insurances) I have left State Farm and my siblings have followed. She just lost a ton of income over a $200.00 repair and her surliness.
If you like State Farm, just be sure to use a different agent.
