Having lived in Toronto for two years now, how did I never know about this more centrally located bakery than the ones along Spadina Ave?? And on Ellm street and near Dundas and Yonge of all places?? But thanks to Yelp's Chinese bakery listings I finally made it there yesterday find out if it was just as good as it's Spadina counterparts. It was around 4pm so alot of the baked goods were already running low but I was able to get one of my favorites the Beef Curry bun and also a ham and cheese bun with an japanese style (tamagoyaki) egg roll stuff inside.
I also like their smaller squared shaped trays and the size of them kept me from want to over-stack my tray with whatever buns and cookies were on display.
Oh! And Lucullus also features two of my favorite Chinese comfort foods, the Zongzi-style glutinous rice packets, or they were Lo Mai Gai, and the steamed BBQ pork buns :-D I'll have to get those next time I'm back there.
And one of the chique things about this place, if you get your baked goods to go, they are individual wrapped and sealed up in a plastic bag, so you don't get your fingers sticky from the egg-wash or the fillings when you eat them.
Well, I was certainly a happy movie-goer after consuming both buns and making my stomach happy.
I'll be getting my baked goods here if I feel lazy to trek all the way to Chinatown.
