THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! BEWARE OF OVERBOOKING AND BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS: I really hate writing reviews... but this rental experience was the worst experience I've ever had in my life so I have to complain.
I arrived at PHX, took the rental car shuttle to the car rental terminal. E-Z Rent a Car shares a counter with Advantage and their counter was the only with a line out the door. Waited 40 minutes in the line. An employee said to check the counter downstairs so my friend ran down to check. The employees said their printer was broken and sent him back up.
Back at the counter an employee started sending other people downstairs and we told them the printer was broken and they weren't taking people and the employee laughed at that and said the printer wasn't broken. Sketch.
We went down to the counter downstairs and sure enough they were processing reservations. I waited another 20 minutes. When I got to the counter all the cars were gone. I had prepaid $130 on Priceline, reservation confirmed. The lady told me one car was left: a Chevy Tahoe. I was hesitant since I originally rented a compact car, this was not what I wanted to drive.
I agreed to it because it was the only car that was left. After I agreed, she told me I would have to pay $280 additionally for the car. THIS IS $420 FOR A CAR FOR ONE WEEKEND (on top of my prepaid amount). This is a classic BAIT AND SWITCH. How are you going to charge me $130 for a confirmation and reservation and then switch the car I wanted and charge me more?
I asked if I would get a refund for the $130 I prepaid. She was very aggressive and told me that I "will never see my refund again". She tried to intimidate me into paying extra. I refused because the price was absurd. I ended up going to Hertz next door. Complete waste of my time.
